HISTORY OF LISSA

While Berta (as a wheaten terrier) appeared in our apartment completely by accident, appearance of Lissa was not such. The point is that Berta came to our apartment in the age of 10 months, and we very much wanted to find out, what she was like, when she was younger. Almost immediately after we found out that Berta was a Wheaten, I started to look at different puppies. Naturally, I started from Germany. But at that time the {заводчик}, I was interested in, had no girls. We looked at several puppies in Moscow, but they didn't look like Berta. In September 2002 Katya called us and said that on the next day Natasha Lubimova should come to the exhibition in Moscow, and that she probably had a bitch that had not been sold. I called Natasha - she indeed had one puppy. I asked her to bring it (It is worth to note that my husband was very luckily not in Moscow at this moment). On the next day I went to take the puppy together with Berta. I had never been in the sports center of Znamensky Brothers before, and it was very symbolic that the directions how to get there were given to us by two ladies with Bedlingtons (In addition, that spring I left a {кисточку} on Berta's right ear). In the hall we found Natasha. She took out the poppet out of a transport case - "that's your Elena Prekrasnaya - take her and love her". Berta, to put it mildly, was surprised: "Who is that? What do we need her for? We lived OK without her".

I should admit that Lissa also didn't look like Berta… but that's the way live chose.

On arrival home the first thing Lissa tried to do was to get under Berta to regale herself with milk. Of course, she wasn't able. Berta's eyes were bulging: "Look, what she is up to!" So began our joint live. The father, upon his return from the business trip, was fairly surprised with what Berta managed to "produce" while he was away. He didn't very much like Lissa at the first sight, neither at the second. Actually, no one called her Lissa yet. She was called differently, but no name "stuck" to her. Only when she was about nine months old she became Lissa. You wouldn't call the girl a mick creature. Lissa was constantly in motion. She would in one leap fly over super wide bed and run around it. Suddenly, one day, she realized that she no longer could squeeze through the slits she was familiar with for a long time - Lissa grew up.

Although we rather didn't plan to show Lissa in the beginning as we had absolutely no experience, we decided to try. In November 2002 Lissa went to her first Exhibition "Sozvezdie - 2002". Before the show Lissa long and hard worked with Irina Ryazanova, who has become our handler and groomer. Lissa has been a good disciple - she's become a BIS Baby of the show!

Then followed a sequence of show, and we decided to send Lissa to Dortmund, to the World Dog Show 2003. None of us in the wildest dreams expected such an outcome from this show - Lissa has become the young World Champion. First I thought it had been a joke, but the joke turned out to be the truth. In her class Lissa had 4 competitors, but apparently none of them had such a handler as Irina - the wheatens couldn't move at all, some of them were merely afraid of the ring. We learned all these details only one and a half years after the show when we received the videotape of the wheatens ring and finally saw what was happening. Thanks to that cassette we found very good friends.

As Lissa grew, so did the list of her victories. She turned into a real beauty, very much alike her farther, Hugo. Lissa visited several countries, and today she is the champion of 4 countries, holder of 9 CACIB's and on April 2005 she became the Interchampion. Lissa loves shows and all the preceding fuss - washing, haircut, preparations - she perfectly understands that she would soon go out to the ring and is very happy. It means that her show career won't finish soon.
