History of Berta
Dedicated to my first Wheaten Low

Berta appeared in our apartment in the end of January 1996. Her life was not particularly funny - small Berta had been a wedding present. In a couple of months she was severely ill. Her owners cured her and decided to separate with her - basically leave her out on the street. But their acquaintance, who already had a South Russian Ovtcharka, took Bertha in their home, where she waited for her new family.

The dog lived there for several months, until our ways came across. As I arrived at Belorussky Train Station after work and saw this nubbin sitting in a puddle (it was a thaw around that time), I was astonished - what kind of Irish Terrier is that (so was written in her only document - vet pass)? She was "blonde" as Marilyn Monroe, had super long eyelashes, soft hair, {хвост не купирован}. In the train she already started to guard me. At home I showed her whole apartment and Berta "took over the post". In a couple of hours when my husband came home Berta didn't want to let him in. I had to induce her by giving to sniff his slippers and other stuff, which took about 15 minutes. Since then Berta is strongly bound to me and misses me a lot, when I'm not home. I've tried hard to find Berta's origins, but unfortunately had no success.

Hence she lived as a red Irish Terrier until April 2002, when I came across the magazine "Drug" with an article of Katya Senashenko. Before that moment neither us nor our friends knew about the existence of Irish Soft Coated Wheaten Terriers. So in the age of 7 years Bertha joined the sparse ranks of Wheatens, whereas in September of the same year she acquired a friend - Wheatengale Elena Prekrasnaya (or, how she's called at home, Lissa).

Berta is 10 years old. Several times she has been taken to an exposition center, and she loved to run in the ring. She was even prepared to sit in a cage together with Lissa. As before, Bertha is still full of joy and energy, but has become a bit peevish and often scolds Lissa for her pranks. We hope, Berta will be with us for many years to come. And the hope to find her origins is a live.
